We can arrange multi-day excursions in the mountains to suit all abilities. For example, stay at the Chalet for 2 days, go on a 3-day excursion starting from Sixt, over to Chamonix and return via Lac Emerson in Switzerland before returning to the Chalet for a further 2 days. We can advise on a number of these types of excursions and we can book refuges and arrange transport to the start of the walk and pick up at the end.

Trekking with donkeys
Another unique experience! This is a great way to explore the mountains whilst the donkey carries all your kit! A great day out especially with children.
Parapenting (Paragliding)
Definitely one for the more adventurous visitor! There are several providers ready to take you up into the mountains - and then throw you off! An amazing way to see the valley.

There are also great opportunities for more sedate activities such as fishing, bird watching, painting and photography. The natural beauty of the area around Sixt will take your breath away!
There are 'leisure parks' at Samoens (outdoor swimming pool and slide, tennis courts, lake etc.), and at Morillon (swimming lake, tree 'high-wire' adventure, tennis etc.). These parks provide an excellent alternative to the other activities available in the area.

There are numerous trails, many starting from the chalet, for all abilities. In July and August, some of the ski lifts in the Grand Massif open to carry hikers and mountain bikers high into the mountains. From the lifts, it is possible to walk to many of the refuges in the area for anything from a coffee to lunch to an evening meal and overnight stay.
We will be happy to put together an itinerary for you staying at the refuge
There are dozens of graded mountain bike routes in the Giffre Valley for you to explore. These range from gentle rides along the valley bottom to extreme downhill tracks. It is well-known that the French are great cyclists and the road biking is excellent here as well. You can even follow some of the Tour de France route!
There are over 750 routes within a 25 minute drive from the chalet. These are nearly all sport routes on fabulous limestone. The climbing at the Gorge de Tines, a 5 minute drive or 15 minute walk from the chalet, is superb with routes ranging from 4c to 8c+!!
Via Ferrata
There is the only Via Ferrata in the Giffre Valley just a 15 minute walk from the chalet. This is a must for anyone with head for heights and a sense of adventure! Equipment can be hired from hire shops in the village.
There are several providers of river activities in the area - chalet guests can benefit from special rates with Sixt Aventure Passion. Activities include white-water rafting, kayaking and hydro-speed - tackling the rapids on a body board!! The Giffre river running through Sixt is a great location to experience these activities - and only a 3 minute walk from the chalet!
